MacDupl doesn’t keep a whitelist — it detects each app’s underlying engine and applies the matching isolation strategy. That means broad families of apps work automatically, including ones not listed here.

App Store apps Beta

Some Apple-provisioned App Store apps can now be cloned: MacDupl gives each instance its own app-group containers and a private keychain, so it links as its own account without touching your original. This is new and app-specific — currently WhatsApp only. These instances run with one of macOS’s protections (the hardened runtime) switched off, which is why the tier is Beta; your original app keeps all of its protections.

Sandboxed App Store apps Not supported

These can’t be cloned with real isolation, so MacDupl hides them from the picker rather than offer a clone that would silently share your original account. Two reasons: their Apple-provisioned entitlements can’t survive MacDupl’s local re-sign, and their data lives in a shared app-group container that macOS keys globally — a clone would read and write the original’s databases. This applies to App Store builds and other Apple-provisioned apps; direct-download apps that merely opt into the sandbox on their own (like CapCut) clone fine. WhatsApp is the one exception so far — it now clones via the App Store · Beta tier above.
