Run two Spotify accounts on Mac
Two Spotify accounts, running at the same time, each with its own library and its own Dock icon — and each showing up as its own device in Spotify Connect.
7-day free trial · $19 once · macOS 13+ · notarized by Apple
What you get
- Separate accounts. Each instance holds its own login, library, playlists and recommendations.
- Both running at once. Verified in both launch orders — instance first or original first.
- Its own Connect device. Each instance appears separately in Spotify Connect, so you can target them independently.
- Its own Dock icon. Colour-tinted per instance.
Verified hands-on on Spotify 1.2.93. This needed a real fix on our side — Spotify's hard-coded single-instance port used to make a second instance kill the first — so make sure MacDupl is up to date.

How to set it up
- Pick the app
Open MacDupl and choose Spotify from the list of apps installed on your Mac. - Name and colour it
Call it “Work”, “Personal” or a client's name, and give it one of nine icon tints. - Hit Create
About two seconds later there's a new Spotify in your Dock — sign into the second Spotify account — it shows up as its own device in Spotify Connect.
Questions about Spotify
Will one instance stop the other from playing?
No. That was Spotify's single-instance behaviour, which MacDupl works around, so both instances run independently.
Do playlists mix between accounts?
No. Each instance has fully separate data — libraries, playlists and listening history stay apart.
Does this work with a family plan?
Each instance signs into whatever account you give it. How your accounts are billed is between you and Spotify — some services restrict simultaneous accounts, so complying with their terms is your responsibility.
Which MacDupl version do I need?
The one carrying the service-rename fix — in practice, keep MacDupl updated. Older builds could not run two Spotify instances reliably.
