Run two Slack accounts on Mac

What you get
- Separate sign-ins. Each instance keeps its own Slack session and its own set of workspaces. Neither one logs the other out.

- Nearly free on disk. Instances are APFS copy-on-write copies — they share disk blocks with the original app, so a second Slack costs almost nothing.
Install it from the vendor's own download page, not the Mac App Store. App Store builds are sandboxed: their data lives in a shared container that a copy would still read, so they can't be cloned. MacDupl's picker grays those builds out and shows you this same advice.
Slack runs on Electron — the tier MacDupl isolates most completely — but it isn't in our hands-on verified set yet, so we list it as “Should work” rather than claim more than we've tested. The 7-day trial answers it for your Mac in seconds.

How to set it up
- Pick the app
Open MacDupl and choose Slack from the list of apps installed on your Mac. - Name and colour it
Call it “Work”, “Personal” or a client's name, and give it one of nine icon tints. - Hit Create
About two seconds later there's a new Slack in your Dock — sign in to the second workspace set.
Questions about Slack
Why not just use Slack's own workspace switcher?
Slack's switcher covers multiple workspaces signed in under one session. It doesn't help when you need two genuinely separate sessions — a different email identity, a client account, or the same workspace under two logins. MacDupl instances are separate apps with separate sessions.
Can I run more than two?
Yes. Pro allows unlimited instances, so you can run one Slack per client or per organisation. The free tier keeps one instance after the 7-day trial ends.
Will my existing Slack be affected?
No. An instance is a copy with its own data directory. Your original Slack keeps its login and settings exactly as they are, and both run at the same time.
Does the Mac App Store version work?
No — it's sandboxed and can't be cloned. Use the build from slack.com/downloads, which clones normally.
